ARA has been a driving force in the Austrian recycling economy since 1993. Originally conceived as a packaging compliance scheme, ARA has long since established itself as a recycling expert, a driver of innovation in resource management and the go-to partner for bespoke waste management solutions. Today, ARA is recognized internationally for the quality of its services.

ARA consists of ARA AG and its four subsidiaries: ARAplus GmbH, Austria Glas Recycling GmbH, DiGiDO GmbH and ERA GmbH.


ARA AG is Austria’s leading packaging compliance scheme and a non-profit company. Our compliance and consultancy services are backed by 25 years of experience in the industry. We use the revenues from compliance fees to organise and finance the collection and recovery of packaging waste in Austria. ARA AG is owned by packaging manufacturers, manufacturers and businesses as well as trading companies.

ARAplus GmbH

ARAplus is a one-stop shop for the full range of ARA solutions and the waste management partner for Industry 4.0. Our specialists provide consultancy services on packaging compliance and WEEE compliance, bespoke waste management solutions, logistics services, resource management solutions and IT services.

Austria Glas Recycling GmbH

The non-profit Austria Glas Recycling has organised the collection and recycling of glass packaging in Austria since the 1970s. Today, it is internationally recognised as a best-practice example in terms of recycling rates as well as environmental and sustainability standards.


DiGiDO operates a digital platform for the fast, efficient and secure exchange of transport data between all parties involved: transferors, transporters and transferees. We cover all material flows and work across industries.


The leading Austrian specialist for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), ERA offers a comprehensive recycling service for WEEE and batteries. In addition, we take on all obligations that businesses have and may outsource under the Austrian WEEE Ordinance and the Batteries Ordinance.
